Btrfs
Btrfs[1] היא מערכת קבצים תואמת לינוקס, המשתמשת בשיטת העתקה בזמן כתיבה. המערכת תחת הרישיון הציבורי הכללי של גנו. פיתוח המערכת החל בשנת 2007 על ידי חברת אורקל, והחל משנת 2013 הוגדרה כיציבה[2].
ב-2008 מפתח העקרונות של מערכות הקבצים ext3 ו-ext4 תיאודור צו הצהיר שלמרות של-ext4 תכונות משופרות, אין מדובר בהתקדמות גדולה, בשל שימוש בטכנולוגיה ישנה ופתרונות לטווח קצר. לדעתו Btrfs מהווה כיוון פיתוח טוב יותר, בשל יכולת הרחבה שלה, אמינותה ויכולת הניהול שלה[3] לדבריו Btrfs מיישמת רעיונות תכנוניים הלקוחים ממערכות הקבצים ReiserFS 3, ו-4[4].
